Exterior detailing is the systematic restoration of every painted, glass, plastic, and metal surface on the outside of your vehicle. It's not a quick wash or an automatic tunnel — it's a methodical process that decontaminates paint, polishes out imperfections, restores faded trim and yellowed headlights, deep-cleans wheels and tires, and finishes with protection that lasts for weeks. A regular wash gets surface dirt off — that's it. Every exterior detail starts with the two-bucket hand wash method — never automated brushes — using pH-balanced soap safe for ceramic-coated and waxed vehicles. Iron decontamination and a clay bar treatment then strip embedded brake dust, road tar, and bonded contaminants that a regular wash can't touch.
Wheels get deep cleaned — including the barrels and spokes where brake dust collects and most detailers skip. Wheel faces are polished to remove embedded brake dust and oxidation. Tires are stripped of old dressing and brown stains, then treated with a premium shine that lasts weeks, not days. Wheel wells get cleaned too.
Yellowed and hazy headlights get restored to remove oxidation, then sealed to prevent it from coming back. Glass is polished to remove water spots, hard water stains, and light haze, and every window is finished streak-free. Mirrors get polished too.
Light to moderate scratches get polished out, swirl marks are corrected, and the finish gets its depth restored. A premium wax application protects for weeks, beads water, and deepens the gloss. Faded black trim comes back to deep black, chrome gets polished, and emblems and badges get cleaned — the spots that always get missed.
Door jambs are cleaned so the surfaces you only see when the door is open look as sharp as the rest of the vehicle. The gas cap area gets detailed. How long does an exterior detail take?
A standard exterior detail typically runs 2 to 3 hours. Adding paint correction, headlight restoration, or a heavy decontamination wash can extend that to 4 to 6 hours. Larger vehicles like trucks and SUVs take longer. We give you an honest time estimate when we quote.
Can you restore my yellowed headlights?
Yes. Yellowed and hazy headlights are one of the most common things we restore. The yellowing is oxidation on the polycarbonate lens surface — we wet sand it off, polish it back to clear, and apply a UV sealant so it stays clear for years. It's one of the most dramatic before/after results in detailing, and it improves both your nighttime visibility and resale value.
What's the difference between hand washing and an automatic wash?
Automatic washes use spinning brushes or cloth strips that drag dirt across your clear coat, creating swirl marks and fine scratches over time. Even "touchless" washes use harsh chemicals that strip wax and protective coatings. Hand washing uses two buckets, soft mitts, and careful technique to clean without scratching — and it's the only safe way to wash a ceramic-coated or freshly waxed vehicle.
Can you remove scratches from my paint?
Light to moderate scratches — yes. We use paint polishing and correction techniques that buff out surface-level scratches, swirl marks, and oxidation. Deeper scratches that have penetrated the clear coat into the paint layer can usually be reduced in appearance but not fully removed without touch-up paint. We'll inspect your scratches and tell you straight what's possible.
Will you clean inside the wheel barrels and behind the spokes?
Yes. Cleaning wheels properly means cleaning the inside surfaces too — that's where brake dust collects worst, and most automatic washes never touch it. We use specialized brushes and wheel cleaner to reach inside the barrels and between spokes, removing brake dust buildup that's been there for years on many vehicles.
Do you bring your own water and power?
Yes. We arrive fully self-contained. All we need from you is access to your vehicle.
Can you restore faded black plastic trim?
Yes. Faded gray or chalky-looking plastic trim is something we restore on most details. Using a dedicated trim restorer, we bring the trim back to its original deep black appearance. It's a small detail but it makes a big visual difference, especially on darker-colored vehicles.
